HP, ASUS, Acer Adopt CXMT DRAM in Small-Batch PC Production Amid Global Memory Shortage

Facing severe DRAM supply shortages, major PC brands including HP, ASUS, and Acer have completed qualification of CXMT’s DRAM chips and begun small-batch adoption in their notebook products, according to industry sources.

Most OEMs finalized certification around mid-2026, but current adoption remains limited – focusing on models sold in non-U.S. markets. CXMT is prioritizing capacity for domestic clients, and overseas PC makers are cautious about large-scale switching, given that Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron control over 90% of the global DRAM market and hold dominant supply leverage.

PC executives acknowledged that the industry remains in a seller’s market, making aggressive diversification risky. The current small-batch trial approach allows brands to reduce supply risk without straining relationships with incumbent suppliers.

The DRAM crunch has also hit the smartphone sector – Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo have reportedly cut 2026 shipment targets multiple times. IDC forecasts global PC sales to drop over 11% in 2026 , with supply tightening expected to worsen in H2.

From ICgoodFind: DRAM scarcity is opening doors – but the gate is still narrow. CXMT’s entry into global OEM supply chains is a milestone, though volume remains small. Long-term diversification is now a strategic necessity for PC makers.
